Christmas Island & Ikari House
CHRISTMAS ISLAND (KIRITIMATI) is world’s largest coral atoll and part of the Republic of Kiribati. This sparsely populated island of several thousand residents lies 1200 miles south of Hawaii and 110 miles north of the equator in the center of the Pacific Ocean. This close proximity to the equator results in consistently optimal year-round weather!
Christmas Island is a wading angler's paradise!! Miles of hard packed white sand and coral flats await. Species include bonefish, several species of triggerfish, several species of trevally, milkfish, sweetlips, red bass and various snappers. Offshore fishing for tuna, wahoo and sailfish is also an option and a very short ride from the lagoon.
The consistent weather of Christmas Island allows anglers a year round opportunity to fish miles and miles of wade-able sand and coral flats.
Ikari House is perfectly situated to take advantage of the great fishing found in the inner lagoon. The resort is located on the water and is nestled among the palm trees overlooking the ever-changing aqua colored waters. It is only a short 10-minute boat ride to several large, shallow easily-waded flats teeming with bonefish.
The comfortable resort has single & double rooms and can comfortably accommodate 10 – 12 anglers at a time. There is a private bathroom with shower in each room. There is wi-fi & a mini-refrigerator in each room.
Hearty breakfasts and dinners are served in the dining room. A packed lunch is taken on the boats to eat on the flats. Ikari House has liquor, wine, beer & soft drinks which will be charged to your tab payable at the end of your stay. If you require special dietary meals, please let us know in advance of your trip.
